Cash for Appliances
As part of the economic stimulus plan, the federal government has set aside $300 million dollars for the Cash for Appliances rebate program that will put $50 to $200 dollars (per appliance) in your pocket for getting rid of your old, worn out appliances and buying new, energy-efficient models.

Depending upon your state you may or may not need to trade in your old appliances to be eligible for the rebate. Then simply buy a new ENERGY STARĀ® appliance, including:

  • Air Conditioners
  • Clothes Washers
  • Dish Washers
  • Refrigerators
  • Freezers
  • Water Heaters
  • PROGRAM & REBATE TERMS
Each state will run its own rebate program and will be free to select which ENERGY STARĀ® appliances qualify along with the rebate amounts. Plus, any state or local utility district rebates will be added to the federal Cash for Appliances rebate, which could add up to even greater savings for you!

A smart home or building is a home or building, usually a new one, that is equipped with special structured wiring to enable occupants to remotely control or program an array of automated home electronic devices by entering a single command. For example, a homeowner on vacation can use a Touchtone phone to arm a home security system, control temperature gauges, switch appliances on or off lighting, program a home theater or entertainment system, and perform many other tasks. The field of home automation is expanding rapidly as electronic technologies converge. The home network encompasses communications, entertainment, security, convenience, and information systems.A technology known as Powerline Carrier Systems (PCS) is used to send coded signals along a home's existing electric wiring to programmable switches, or outlets. These signals convey commands that correspond to "addresses" or locations of specific devices, and that control how and when those devices operate.
